Installation of Student ClassPoint
System
Requirements for ClassPoint Student, Whiteboard and Application Sharing: Ensure
tha student computers meet the minimum system requirements for the ClassPoint
Student, Whiteboard, and Application Sharing software. CPU:
166 MHz Pentium processor minimum (faster
recommended). Operating
System: Windows®
95, 98 or Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3 or greater Memory:
32 MB RAM
minimum (64 MB for application sharing). Disk
space: 12 MB of
hard disk space. Additional space is needed for Microsoft NetMeeting if you will
be using Whiteboard and Application Sharing. Network
Connection: TCP/IP
(Winsock compliant); PPP for dial-up connection, 33.3K modem (56.6K or higher
recommended) Ethernet, or ISDN connection. Each student must have an IP address.
The quality and reliability of your network connection affects the quality of
your ClassPoint conference. Video
Requirements: Video
camera and video capture card compatible with CU-SeeMe Audio
Requirements: A
16-bit sound card and drivers, and a quality directional microphone that is
compatible with your sound card. Speakers
or headphones: Refer

Web Browsers: Netscape
Navigator 4.x or later version, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or later
version. Note:
Microsoft Internet Explorer is included on the ClassPoint Student CD. Student Installation Instructions You
are now ready to install the ClassPoint Student software! Use
the following steps to install the ClassPoint Student. Please note it is
better to install this program with Internet Explorer web browser. If you
do use Netscape it will download the file to a folder of your choice, you will
then have to double-click the file to install the files. 1. 2.
An introductory installation screen displays
automatically. Click Install ClassPoint Student to proceed with the setup. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
ClassPoint Student installation. 4. During the Installation, you will be asked to
enter the IP address of the ClassPoint server to which you are connecting. You
should have received this information with a serial number from your instructor
or administrator. Click Cancel at any time to cancel ClassPoint Student
installation. 5. Now that the installation of the ClassPoint
Student is complete, you can now enter as an instructor or student on ClassPoint
servers on which you have an account. Only
do the following if you no not have MicrosoftNetmeeting Installed. Installing Whiteboard and Application Sharing The
Whiteboard and Application Sharing software included on the ClassPoint Student
CD is used by the instructor and student clients in class. Note:
Microsoft Internet Explorer is included on the ClassPoint Student CD. If the
complete version of Microsoft Internet Explorer is installed on student and
instructor computers, the NetMeeting software automatically installs, which
includes the Whiteboard and Application Sharing software. If the complete
version of Microsoft Internet Explorer was already installed, you can skip this
section. Follow
these steps to install the Whiteboard and Application Sharing software: 1.
For a CD installation, click the Install Whiteboard and Application Sharing
button from the introductory installation program. Alternatively,
you can download and install NetMeeting from
Microsoft's Web page at http://www.microsoft.com. 2.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the NetMeeting installation. Note:
You may be asked to set up and optimize NetMeeting for video and audio the first
time you install NetMeeting. ClassPoint does not use NetMeeting for audio or
video, only for Whiteboard and Application Sharing. Feel free to configure
NetMeeting's audio and video, but it will have no effect on the ClassPoint
multipoint audio and video. The
default installation location for the Whiteboard and Application Sharing program
on your computer is: c:/Program
