Directions to FTP web files to your Student home directory

Using WS_FTP

Hint: It is a good practice to always put your domain name in front of userid when you are not on campus.  Faculty & Staff should always put 'nvadm' in front of userid [nvadm\userid].  Students should always put 'nvstudent' in front of userid [nvstudent\userid].  Use this format when you check mail and FTP files.

Open up WS_FTP from the Start, Programs, WS_ftp, and click on WS_FTP95 LE.  The following Windows dialog will open.  Enter each line the same except you will enter your student Lan/Email  username and password. It would be better to put your domain in front of your userid, for example, 'nvstudent\mdepalma' instead of just 'depalma'.

You can leave the password line blank at this point; you will prompted to enter you password after you click OK

Enter Password. Click OK.

The left panel displays the files on your computer. The right panel displays the files in your web folder on the NOVA server.

To upload files, select them in the right pane, then click the --> button in the middle of the screen.

Click Exit to close the program.
