              Class Syllabus - VET 111 

It is the responsibility of the student to read and fully understand this syllabus, as well as continue to check the website and email for updates and any notification of changes in the class. All communications with students will be through instructor student VCCS e-mail addresses, this syllabus website (especially the "What's New" section), and Blackboard.

Grading scale:
A = 90 -100
B = 80 - 89
C = 79- 70
 
D = 69 - 60
F = 59 & below        

Grades determined as follows:

Assignments (submitted via Blackboard)*        15%
Midterm Exam     October 2-19                         15%
Final Exam  December 4-17                               20
Lab exam 1  (during campus visit #1)                15%
Lab exam 2 (during campus visit #2)                 15%
Lab exam 3 (during campus visit #3)                 20%


Written exams are taken at your local Virginia community college testing center using the computer based testing system
 Blackboard.

*Late assignments will not be accepted. Please see due dates below.

To pass this course a student must receive a C (at least 70%) in both the lecture and laboratory portions of this course. Please note - the lecture portion of the course is worth 50% of your final grade and the lab portion of the course is worth 50% of your final grade.

Attendance at all campus visits is mandatory to pass this course.

Campus visit #1 - Monday, September 21st or Monday, October 5th; 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM each day.  Approximately 1/2 of the class will come to campus each day; you will review, then take lab exam #1.  Please sign up for campus visit by e-mailing instructor - first come, first serve basis.

Lesson Assignments #1-6 due on October 1st by midnight

Exam #1 - can be taken from October 2nd to 19th at local testing center.

Campus visit #2 -Monday, October 26th or Monday, November 2nd; 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM each day. Review then take lab exam #2; please sign up for campus visit by e-mailing instructor - first come, first serve basis.  PLEASE BRING A CHICKEN LEG (DRUMSTICK PLUS THIGH) AND DISSECTION KIT (THUMB FORCEPS, PROBE, SCISSORS, ETC) TO CAMPUS VISIT #2.

Lesson Assignments #7-10 due on November 6th by midnight.

Campus visit #3 - Monday, November 30th or Monday, December 7th; 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM each day. Review then take lab exam #3; please sign up for campus visit by e-mailing instructor - first come, first serve basis. 

Lesson Assignments #11-14 due on December 3rd by midnight.

Exam #2 - December 4th to 17th at local testing center.

The semester and exams end on December 20th.
